Getting closer to M31, better known as the Andromeda Galaxy. The Andromeda Galaxy is a super massive spiral galaxy that is very similar to our own Milky Way galaxy. Andromeda is about 220,000 light years wide and contains well over a trillion stars, yet is the closest galaxy to our own begin just over 2 million light years away. When you really begin to take these facts in it all becomes a little difficult to comprehend.
The photons of light from Andromeda that my modern DSLR camera captured left it’s stars millions of years ago. Man had not even taken his first breath of oxygen enriched air when the light in this photo began it’s journey to our obscure, yet amazingly unique planet. Fascinating isn’t it?
The images used to create this photo were captured under a moon lit sky. I will be doing further work on M31 (The Andromeda Galaxy) in the near future. So bookmark my website and make a stop back every so often for more astrophotography imaging.
