With severe storms and the possibility of tornadoes moving my way I quickly climbed to the highest point possible with my Canon 7D and a tripod in hand. After all it only seemed like the natural thing to do at the time.
Unfortunately the ground to sky lightening I was hoping to capture as the storm moved in never happened. That was the intended purpose of climbing up onto my roof in the first place. I guess that’s just the way things go, can’t win them all.
What I did capture was pretty impressive none the less. A wall of pure natural power and furry rolling at me in slow motion. It wasn’t long before a tornado started forming on the front edge of the storm. It began rotating and I thought for sure I was about to score big time! A front row seat to one of mother natures fiercest and most powerful forces and I was capturing it all on a camera. What more could I ask for?
As quickly as this massive system began to form though it fell apart. By that time the wall, or leading edge of this beast of storm was rolling over me. Winds gusting at 50 to 70 mph. Debris whipping around and then then rain. The part I hoped would hold off just a little longer.
It was quite the experience to say the least!
As always guys, eyes to the sky and keep your cameras focused!
